Marcion (The Heretic) & How Paul's Epistles Got Into the Bible

Image
Join Doug for this podcast dicsussion that occured Tuesday, Apr. 8, 2025 on the JesusNotPaul/Acts channel as he address Marcion of Sinope, the first man to put together a "New Testament" "Canon" in the early mid second century, from which he uplifted the writings of Paul not only above, but in place of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.   Marcion lived during the second century and was branded a heretic due to his erroneous beliefs (that gnostics also shared) that the God of the Hebrews was a malevolent "demiurge" creator diety that Marcion said was not the kind and loving and yet hidden and supreme god who he said had really sent Jesus.   This heresy led to a litany of errors, such as: 1) Marcion taught that Paul (in his epistles) brought the only true gospel as he did not closely align with the teachings of Jesus reported by the gospels and the apostles with regard to the God of the Hebrews being the one to have sent Jesus and that we were accountable to Him an...

Revelation's Correction Returns Us To Jesus, Not Paul/Acts

Join Doug for the podcast that aired on Thursday, Apr. 3, 2025 on the JesusNotPaul/Acts channel as he addresses the Book of Revelation and its compete demolition of the false of gospel that the false Apostle Paul brought.  From beginning to end, it refocuses the Churches on repenting of sins (one in particular of which Paul teaches you how to do in 1 Corinthians 8, that is to say, to eat things sacrificed to idols) in preparation for an eternity with Christ.  It is very specific in identifying the fact that we are most literally judged by our works, and those works have to do with the question, are we keeping the commandments of God?  The prophecy ends by saying most literally that we will be judged by our works with the commandments being the measure.  Revelation in no way preaches we are saved "by faith and not by works lest any man should boast," as Paul's false implication that simple obedience to God's commandments gives one cause to boast!  Yet, even thoug...

What is the Real Gospel? The Last Days, Last Chance Gospel of Jesus (Not Paul/Acts)

This question is really quite simple until you add the confusion of Paul's teachings to it.   Limiting the source material of this question to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and John (as secondarily speaking, Luke) as well as the 1 epistle of John and almost most importantly, the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, you can know for sure what is required of you as a Believer to inherit everlasting life. If these books could be distilled down to steps to salvation, how would they be enumerated? What would be required? 1. Recognition of sin, that is to say, that you've lived a life disobedient to the Father's wishes as described by the Torah, Prophets, and the teachings of Jesus, the Messiah and Son of God, the Word of God. 2. Confession of those sins to the Father. 3. Repentance of those sins, that is to say, determining to not continue in them and turning 180 degrees from them, walking the other way. 4. Recognition and acceptance of the work of Jesus in shedding His blood ...
