What is the Real Gospel? The Last Days, Last Chance Gospel of Jesus (Not Paul/Acts)
This question is really quite simple until you add the confusion of Paul's teachings to it.
Limiting the source material of this question to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and John (as secondarily speaking, Luke) as well as the 1 epistle of John and almost most importantly, the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, you can know for sure what is required of you as a Believer to inherit everlasting life.
If these books could be distilled down to steps to salvation, how would they be enumerated? What would be required?
1. Recognition of sin, that is to say, that you've lived a life disobedient to the Father's wishes as described by the Torah, Prophets, and the teachings of Jesus, the Messiah and Son of God, the Word of God.
2. Confession of those sins to the Father.
3. Repentance of those sins, that is to say, determining to not continue in them and turning 180 degrees from them, walking the other way.
4. Recognition and acceptance of the work of Jesus in shedding His blood for the payment of our sins, receiving what He did, and applying that blood to your life, believing that He is the Son of God, and also the Word of God.
5. Receiving Jesus/The Word of God as your Savior, as the One who delivers and can set free. Because Jesus is the Word, to be a child of His, you come in line with Him as the Word. You seek to be pure, even as He is pure. This must be maintained for salvation.
6. If and when the Believer breaks the Father's Word again, he must repent and make it right again, and receive forgiveness from the Father through the power of Jesus' shed blood. Each and every time. One job of the Holy Spirit is to bring to mind our past and present sins so that we may repent. If we feel convicted of any past or present sin, we must confess and repent for those sins individually, or we will continue to be reminded of them. Once we do, then the Father forgets and wipes the slate clean, and your mind will no longer be tormented by what you did in the past that broke His Word.
7. You know you have salvation because you know exactly what your life is being measured against, the Word, and that the real free gift of salvation is not an automatic blanket forgiveness of every sin you've committed, but that you can talk to the Father about each one, deal with it, and put it completely behind you. This is why so many modern Believers who think it's just a one and done prayer and who never address their sins individually stay in the bonds of hypocrisy. Each sin, as the Holy Spirit brings them to mind, and especially as one reads the whole of the Word and sees more areas in which they've trespassed, must be addressed and repented of, as they come to mind. (This includes forgiving others and letting go of grudges). Then those sins can become part of the past, as the Father then casts them into the sea of forgetfulness for Himself, never to be remembered again by Him. You will no longer be held to account because the Father applies the Blood of Jesus and forgiveness completely. Then, when you get to your Great White Throne Judgment, The Father will no longer hold those sins against you. Satan, the accuser of the brethren, tries to often remind us of these sins that are forgiven to get us to fall into self-condemnation, but it's up to us to rebuke him and command him to leave. But it's still good, in those moments, to look deeper into the thing for which you feel condemned just to make sure that no stone has been left unturned in your seeking to make things right with the Father.
On the podcast, it's at this point that I am going to read the First Epistle of John, and you will see these points laid out in his letter. It contains the real Gospel, not the letters of Paul, and these seven points written here, I believe, are a distilling of the real Gospel down to the most basic level. If you're reading this blog, I encourage you to read it for yourself or watch the podcast.
